Turkey Thicket Recreation Center Accessibility & Facility Upgrades

The Turkey Thicket Recreation Center Upgrades project enhanced accessibility, safety, and usability throughout the facility and surrounding site, supporting a more inclusive experience for visitors of all abilities.

Construction improvements implemented the approved architectural and engineering designs and focused on bringing key areas into alignment with applicable ADA accessibility requirements. Exterior upgrades included a new accessible drop-off and loading zone, ADA-compliant parking spaces and signage, and modifications to parking and circulation areas to improve access to the recreation center.

Interior improvements included reconfiguration of the lobby reception desk and accessibility upgrades to toilet rooms, locker rooms, shower areas, and family changing rooms. Minor demolition, electrical, and plumbing work was completed as needed to support these modifications.

The project also replaced existing playground poured-in-place safety surfacing and artificial turf with new materials designed to create a safer, more accessible recreational environment. Together, the improvements strengthened facility access, enhanced key visitor spaces, and supported a more welcoming recreation experience for the surrounding community.
